2014 National Health Service Corps Students to Service Loan Repayment Program Application Cycle Now Open

September 24, 2013

Eligibility is open to medical students (allopathic or osteopathic) in their last year of school who are planning to pursue a career in primary care and are committed to working in underserved communities with limited access to care.

NHSC S2S LRP award recipients receive up to $120,000 for three years of full-time service or six years of part-time service. Upon completion of residency, S2S recipients serve as primary care providers in an NHSC-approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) of greatest need.

The 2014 NHSC S2S LRP Application and Program Guidance can be found online at http://www.nhsc.hrsa.gov/loanrepayment/studentstoserviceprogram/applicationguidance.pdf. The 2014 NHSC S2S LRP application cycle closes on November 14, 2013, at 7:30 pm, ET.

The NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program is expected to be competitive. Applicants are encouraged to begin the application process early. On average, it takes approximately three weeks to complete an application. It is suggested that applicants start gathering information now on their loan and supplemental documentation (e.g., letters of recommendation and official school transcript).
