Michigan AHEC kicks off AHEC week with legislative lunch

Michigan AHEC kicked off National AHEC Week 2024 during the last week of March by meeting with state legislators to highlight MI-AHEC's work strengthening the state’s healthcare workforce and improving access to quality healthcare. Special thanks to Rep. Donavan McKinney and staff members from legislative offices across Southeast Michigan including staff from the offices of Sen. Stephanie Chang (Omar Islam), Rep. Veronica Paiz (James Sklar), and Rep. Jamie Churches (Rajan Varmon) for making time to visit Wayne State University School of Medicine and learn about the ways we are recruiting and training students from diverse populations and paving the way for them to continue their health profession careers in underserved communities throughout the state. We look forward to future discussion with them and other legislators across the state.
