Health Thought Leaders to Speak at Annual Health Conference

The 8th Annual "Region's Health and Health Care Systems: Communities Achieving Excellence and Accountability" will be held Friday, January 27, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Saginaw Valley State University and simulcast at Central Michigan University and Kirtland Community College. The conference will bring health and healthcare leaders from across the Great Lakes Bay Region together to learn about the pressing topic of Population Health Management in the health care delivery arena. Two speakers will provide conceptual frameworks and case examples related to their experiences in accountable systems of care and patient/person-centered medical homes, enabling participants to continue examining and enhancing their efforts toward improving quality and patient care experiences in the region.

The first session of the event will be "Comprehensive Capacity: Effective Healthcare is a Team Sport" presented by Robert Fortini, PNP, Chief Clinical Officer of Bon Secours Medical Group. Fortini is responsible for facilitating provider adoption of Electronic Health Records, coordinating clinical transformation to a Patient Centered Medical Home care delivery model and facilitating participation in Population Health initiatives as well as Physician advocacy. He has extensive experience in Operations and Clinical Policy development and experience in workflow re-engineering. Fortini also had served as the Chief Medical Affairs Officer at Queens Long Island Medical Group engaged in quality and Health Information Technology adoption and has 34 years of experience in healthcare.

Ray King, MD, Senior Vice President and Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer of Allegiance Health, presentation, "Journey to Population Health: Achieving the Triple Aim for Our Community" will bring fourth valuable discussion for the Great Lakes Bay Region, particularly to the physician and provider community. Dr. King became President/CEO in 2011 of the Jackson Health Network, a collaboration between physicians, health care community leaders, and Allegiance Health working together to improve patient outcomes and safety, enhance patient experience and reduce overall cost through an integrated system of care. Dr. King began his tenure with Allegiance Family Medicine as a Primary Care Physician in 1984 and in 2007 became Sr. VP of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer of Allegiance Health, now recently aligned with the Henry Ford Health System. His prior experience included Medical Director of Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice and Associate Medical Director of Physician Health Plan of South Michigan.
