Wayne State Medical Students to Experience Clinical Rotations in Rural Northern Michigan

The Northern Lower Regional Center AHEC has worked with Dr. Margit Chadwell, Director, Family Medicine & Continuity Clinic Clerkship YR III, Wayne State University School of Medicine, to finalize an arrangement with MidMichigan Community Health Services to accept Wayne State third and fourth year medical students for one month clinical rotations at MidMichigan Health Park-Houghton Lake, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Roscommon County, Michigan. Both Wayne State and Northern Lower AHEC are excited about this opportunity to offer students an experience in such a rural setting. Students will be precepted by Jeffrey Strickler, MD and Kevin Denlinger, DO. The first students began their rotations in January, 2017. Another bonus for these students is that the Northern Lower AHEC has access to a two-unit student housing apartment located at the Houghton Lake FQHC campus.
