The fifth annual StatewideTribal Opioid Summit "Raising Awareness, Taking Action, Saving Lives,” presented by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe will be held on Monday, October 28th, and Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Entertainment Hall. The theme for this year’s conference is “Raising Awareness, Taking Action, Saving Lives.” 

This conference welcomes those who have been affected by or are interested in combating the opioid epidemic. The summit has been organized to benefit victim service providers, law enforcement, health care professionals, educators, community organizers, human service workers, court personnel, therapists, addiction and recovery specialists, and students. 

This conference will explore the importance of culture and its impact on abstinence rates including an examination of therapeutic models in correlation to cultural components. By participating in this conference, attendees will develop awareness of personal bias, understanding of minority groups' unique identities, and opportunities to work with them. Participants will gain confidence in their treatment approaches and practices in opioid related conditions and further knowledge and understanding when working with minorities.
