The Program Office welcomes new Research Assistant

A headshot of Alex LimThe Program Office recently welcomed Alex Lim to the team as the new research assistant. Alex has a rich background in research and nonprofit work, with experiences in science research, data work, and storytelling. He co-founded a Midwest-based nonprofit, Midstory, focused on multimedia storytelling. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex worked at QIAGEN with biomedical devices and regulatory studies. Now, he’s excited to join MI-AHEC as a Research Assistant, supporting data and grant reporting.  Outside of work, Alex enjoys singing and performs regularly with UToledo’s Juice House Singing Blend group. He’s also an avid runner and has a love for Studio Ghibli films—Spirited Away being a favorite. When it comes to literature, the short story "I Sing the Body Electric" by Ray Bradbury holds a special place in his heart. 

Michigan Public Health Association hosts Public Health Nurse Conference

The Michigan Public Health Association (MPHA) will be hosting the Public Health Nurse Conference on April 8th, 2025 from 9:00 AM-4:05 PM. The theme of this year's conference is Public Health is a Team Sport: Interdiscplinary Practice. Michigan AHEC Co-Principal Investigator, Ramona Benkert, PhD, ANP-BC, FAANP will be hosting a session on Area Health Education Center: Challenges for Interdiscplinary Collaboration in Community Practice. Registration is $50.00 for MPHA members, $80.00 for non-MPHA members, and $10.00 for Pre-Licensure students.
