Southeast Regional Center Update

The Southeast Regional Center is in a year of transition. Covenant Community Care, a federally qualified health center that serves over 20,000 annually through medical, dental and behavioral healthcare, is the new SERC host site. Executive Director Samuel Young is working on various committees on 2018 programming and to fill the Program Manager position vacancy. At the end of February, SERC will facilitate a poverty simulation program for nursing and medical students in partnership with Wayne State University's College of Nursing and School of Medicine. According to Young, the two-day simulation is "a unique opportunity to help students understand what life is like with a shortage of money and an abundance of stress that will inform participants related to how they care for patients as healthcare providers in the future."
