Southeast Regional Center Update
Biomedical Career Advancement Program
This program will provide high school students with the opportunity to gain the technical skills needed to work in a research lab, obtain hands-on experience and work alongside a senior faculty mentor. This year's program begins June 26 through August 4, 2017. Applications will be available online at www.sercahec.org in December. Students must be entering 12th grade in fall 2017.
Certified Nursing Assistant Program
This program will work with Nurses United Resource Specialists & Educational Services (N.U.R.S.E.S) to assist in training high school students to become certified nursing assistants. The course will be 6.5 hours per day, five days per week, for four weeks at one of the approved training sites in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. Macomb PreMedical Scholars Program
Southeast Regional AHEC along with our partners at McLaren Macomb is providing high school students in Macomb County the opportunity to work alongside a physician. The program focuses on helping students explore various physician specialty areas; examine trends and issues in healthcare and more. This program will be held at McLaren Macomb Hospital in summer 2017. More information will be available in the coming weeks at www.sercahec.org.
Registered Behavioral Health Technician program
Southeast Regional AHEC has developed a collaborative program with the University Pediatrician's Autism Center to train and register Behavioral Health Technicians to work one-on-one with children with Autism. This program will currently be held at three locations, Clinton Township, Detroit and Novi. Recruiting efforts are year-round.
