Upper Peninsula Regional Center: Spotlight on Shelby Santti
Shelby Santti joined the Upper Peninsula Regional AHEC in 2020 after working in various administrative roles within the healthcare arena over the past 5 years. Shelby has served as Medical Staff Coordinator and Executive Assistant for UP Health System Portage Administration and then in an administrative support position at Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center before being named UP AHEC Program Director in the fall of 2020. In addition to her educational background and work experience in healthcare administration, Shelby is currently pursuing a degree in nursing. This combination of administrative experience and clinical training has allowed Shelby to enhance her healthcare knowledge to support the mission of UP AHEC. Born and raised in the Upper Peninsula, otherwise known as a "Yooper", Shelby understands the rewards and challenges associated with living in the region. Understanding the area's history and culture, coupled with her education and work experience in healthcare has helped Shelby transition into the UP AHEC Program Director role. Shelby is eager to continue collaborating with healthcare and educational organizations to meet the mission of UP AHEC and to help address the regional workforce and training goals intended to improve health care professional recruitment and retention.
In Shelby's free time you can find her walking her dogs, cross country skiing, mountain biking, running, hiking, reading, gardening, fishing, on the shores of Lake Superior and volunteering in the community.
