Upper Peninsula Regional Center Hosts NMU Rural Health Careers Camp

The Upper Peninsula Regional AHEC hosted the NMU Rural Health Careers Camp May 14-16, 2018.  About 20 students from the UP attended to learn more about the health professions and practicing in a rural area. Students had live simulations for one day in the areas of nursing, social work, radiography, speech pathology, pre-med, dentistry and others. Students were able to tour a health facility and learn about cardiology, EMS services and medical technology. Students received adult, child and infant CPR certification. They also attended a banquet dinner with health professionals and presentations on mental health and cardiology.
