Western Regional Community Consortium Update
The West Michigan Health Careers Pipeline Program Spring 2023 was launched on January 30th to seven mentors from Western Michigan University, and again on February 6th to sixteen mentees/high school students from the Grand Rapids area, representing two of the local public schools until March 27th. Each week includes an introduction to a health profession and leadership characteristics word, and how the two connect. The sessions are developed and presented by Michigan State University Medical Students. MSU medical students create content that link leadership characteristics with a health career and incorporates a speaker or activity over the eight week program. We are currently entering our 7th week of programming with many positive and energetic student responses. A review of the participant demographics included every one of AHEC's goal target audiences.
