AHEC Scholar Spotlight: Tyeisha Head
Tyeisha Head is a Year 2 Michigan AHEC Scholar pursuing an MPH with a concentration in Public Health Practice at Wayne State University. Tyeisha joined the MI-AHEC Scholars program because it aligned with her career goals. “My plans include becoming an obstetrician-gynecologist. This alignment reassures me that the AHEC Scholars Program is the right platform to help further my aspirations. Ultimately, I aspire to become a clinician-scientist focusing on maternal health disparities of African American women to help bridge gaps in care access for the community.”
Tyeisha shared the following advice for first-year scholars. “My advice to first-year AHEC scholars is to not be afraid to ask questions and to fully embrace this opportunity. The AHEC Scholars Program is a platform for you to learn, grow, and connect with peers from different disciplines. It's natural to feel uncomfortable with change or new people, but remember, this is a chance to broaden your horizons and become a more well-rounded healthcare professional! “
