Fifth Annual Statewide Opioid Summit

The Fifth annual Statewide Opioid Summit "Raising Awareness, Taking Action, Saving Lives,” presented by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is a one-and-a-half-day conference being held on Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Entertainment Hall in Mt. Pleasant, MI. This in-person event is $75 per attendee and $30 for students - pre-registration is required.

This conference welcomes all interested parties and communities affected by or interested in combating the opioid epidemic. The summit has been organized to benefit victim service providers, law enforcement, health care professionals (physicians, nurses, advances clinical practitioners, physicians assistants, social workers), educators, community organizers, human service workers, court personnel, therapists, addiction and recovery specialists, students, and others with a vested interest. 

While the previous conferences focused on education, information and knowledge building, action steps for new and innovative methods of grass roots community-based treatment, development of new access points, community participation in native healing therapies, and emphasized early prevention and intervention for youth, this conference will focus on Raising Awareness, Taking Action, and Saving Lives.

3.       Brian L. Meyer, Ph.D., LCP, PTSD, Pain, Insomnia, & Opioid, Alcohol, & Cannabis Abuse, Central Virginia VA Health Care System &  Virginia Commonwealth University

4.       Tricia Tingle, J.D., Bureau of Indian Affairs

5.       Patrick McCoy, M.A., B.S., Advanced Cultural Diversity with Substance Abuse Treatment, CDC

6.       Other sessions will focus on suicide, organizational collaboration panels, supportive housing, overdose strategy, and opioid lawsuit settlement insights.
