Michigan AHEC Partners with LTU Physician's Assistant Program
Michigan AHEC is proud to announce our newest partnership with Lawerence Technological University’s (LTU) Physician’s Assistant program starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. This new partnership will make AHEC Scholars a core part of the Physician’s Assistant Program curriculum. 30 PA students will enroll in AHEC Scholars.
“LTU PA program goals are to improve healthcare in the communities by raising awareness among PA students to advocate for community health and diverse population patient-care. The program values the interprofessional aspects of patient-centered care and the importance of healthcare team-lead initiative for healthcare quality improvement in Michigan. By partnering with Wayne State University MI-AHEC, LTU PA program is paving the road for better opportunities for LTU PA future providers to be the advocates for their diverse patients and to improve the quality of care among the healthcare teams,” said Rania Krayem, DPAS, M.Ed, MS, PA-C Director of Clinical Education of LTU’s PA program.
LTU Physician's Assistant faculty members see AHEC Scholars as a crucial step in the evolution of medical education. “There are components of AHEC scholars that may be Missing from PA education. Although the components may not be necessary as a standard for accreditation, the future of medical education is to evolve and involve before being forced to implement,” said Charles Regan, MS, PA-C, DFAAPA Department Chair of Lawerence Tech’s PA Program.
