Dr. Binienda Represents Michigan AHEC at 2021 NAO Conference
Dr. Juliann Binienda, Professor and Director, Division of Population Health Sciences in the Wayne State University School of Medicine's Department of Family Medicine & Public Health Sciences, represented Michigan AHEC by giving two presentations at the 2021 Biennial National AHEC Organization (NAO) conference. The 2021 conference, held virtually June 28-July 2, 2021, marked the 50th Anniversary of AHEC and attracted a record 700 participants from across the country.
The first presentation entitled, "Reflective Practices: The Hidden Curriculum of the AHEC Scholars Program," was presented by Alexis D. Malakar, BSN, RN, DNP(c) and Juliann Binienda, PhD. Alexis is a graduate of the MI-AHEC Scholars Program from its first student cohort. Dr. Binienda currently serves as program evaluator for Michigan AHEC.
Dr. Binienda also presented "Showing our Impact with One Voice: NAO CORE Annual Data Collection & Reporting" with representatives from other statewide AHECs, including: Rodriguez, K., Cragin, L., Hanson, S. & Williams, T.
Other Michigan AHEC representatives attending the conference were IPE faculty champions Dr. Susan Wiers, Assistant Professor in the WSU College of Nursing and Dr. Aline Saad, Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice from the WSU Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. During the conference, one lucky conference attendee received a special raffle prize giveaway from Michigan AHEC featuring Michigan-made products.
