AHEC Scholars Introduces Course Involving Emerging Health Issues with COVID-19

One of the core topics of the AHEC Scholars Program is current and emerging health issues. A new learning activity that was recently added to the AHEC Scholars' curriculum is Health Communication, Risk Communication and Crisis Communication: COVID 19 Testing and Surveillance Examples. The activity includes a presentation by Amy Jessop, PhD, MPH, and Associate Professor of Public Health at Western Michigan University's School of Interdisciplinary Health Programs. In her presentation, Dr. Jessop speaks to the importance of accuracy and timely communication during times of crisis.

Dr. Jessop's research focuses on the prevention and control of infectious diseases, particularly development and testing of vaccines and screening tests, development of surveillance programs, implementation of projects to improve the quality of health service delivery, and education and training of professionals, patients and members of the public.
