Health Centers Detroit

 

 

The HCD Scholars (Health Centers Detroit) program is designed for students from diverse backgrounds, as experiential learning, as they prepare to enter a health care profession.

HCD Scholars aims to equip students who have a strong interest in providing care to medically underserved communities.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate college students interested in a health science career; at least one year of undergraduate study.
  • First-year medical students also qualify
  • Minimum 2.7 GPA (good academic standing) is required
  • Underrepresented minorities and economically disadvantaged individuals are strongly encouraged to apply

                      

Program Timeline

Students will participate for 6-8 weeks between the dates of June 1st and August 31st.

Incentive

Students who successfully complete the requirements for HCD Scholars may be eligible for a paid stipend.

Student Placement/Mentoring

Selected students will be placed at one of three Health Centers Detroit clinic location, and overseen by a lead physician:

  • University Health Center
  • East Jefferson Health Center
  • Greenfield Health Center
