Health Professionals

Through various assessment processes, the Michigan Area Health Education Center (MI-AHEC) identifies continuing education needs of health care professionals. The MI-AHEC program office and its Regional Centers then seek to improve health care professionals' access to relevant continuing education opportunities.

Waye State University Continuing Medical Education

PURPOSE: The Goal of the School's CME program is to plan and deliver high quality education activities for health care practitioners in order to reinforce their past learning and to disseminate new concepts and practices in medicine which may improve patient care for all medical specialties.

In accordance with the educational affiliation agreement between Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center, the School is the accredited sponsor for all CME activities of the Detroit Medical Center and its constituent institutions.

TARGET AUDIENCE: The audiences to be reached by its program of CME are:

  1. Physicians in all medical specialties and sub-specialties
  2. Faculty of the school and medical staffs of DMC hospitals
  3. Practicing physicians throughout the world
  4. Physicians-in-training
  5. Other health care professionals

Michigan Center for Rural Health (MCRH) offers numerous free Grand Rounds Programs, which are telebroadcasted free throughout rural Michigan via Zoom Webinar.Register, attend the live webinar, complete the evaluation afterward and receive your continuing education free of charge.

National AHEC Organization (NAO) National Training Center

The NAO National Training Center facilitates national continuing education projects utilizing the AHEC network. Current projects include: Lupus Initiative, Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center (MHLIC), and Epilepsy Awareness in Rural Areas.

Southeast Michigan Center for Medical Education

The Southeast Michigan Center for Medical Education was established in 1974 for the purpose of coordinating and assisting in the education of medical students, medical residents, faculty, and other health professionals. Its primary mission is to stimulate the delivery of quality care through excellence in graduate medical education and faculty development.
